The Boil Story
As sure as day follows night, springtime welcomes the return of the shellfish boil at The Urchin. Inspired by the Cajun tradition in Louisiana, the boil signals the end of winter and spring awakening. A communal sigh of relief for crops returning and the community making it through another year. A celebration to honour major life milestones, or fuel Mardi Gras and Easter festivities. 2026 marks the fourth year we have been hosting springtime boils in the garden at The Urchin

The World is My Oyster
Each Autumn, we celebrate the return of the native oyster season at The Urchin, with natives back on our regular menu from October to March, and a special Oyster Feast on the last Monday of November, featuring fresh Larrikin Oyster Stout brewed on-site, live music and a plethora of oyster goodness. The Heritage Oysters have been around for 180 million years and eaten by people for at least 5,000. They were popular in Roman times and fished from UK waters such as Whitstable B

Young Guns Beer Festival
This Halloween, we will be celebrating four local, upstart breweries. Each is unique, but all share a kindred spirit of innovation, adventure and fierce independence. We kinda like that at The Urchin. In fact, it’s these guys who inspired us to start our own brewery this year, downstairs at the pub.
